Bismillah-hir Rahman-nir Raheem (in the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful)

It’s official! After mounting international pressure by hundreds of thousands of angered people, including state leaders and other well known figures, the madness of Terry Jones is now at an end – or at least the campaign is, for now.

[UPDATE Saturday 11th September 2010 – Pastor says that he will NEVER burn the Qur’an http://bit.ly/bWIexI]

This affair ignited the whole world, Muslims and non-Muslims alike and incensed those who had a conscience. No doubt we are all relieved and glad that this sad episode in humanity is over. I personally would like to thank everyone who rallied together very quickly to speak out against Terry Jones and his church of around 50 followers. We have demonstrated globally that there are good people in the world and more than that, Allah, subhana wa ta’ala, Has Protected His Word.

Muslims across the world have been united and non-Muslims have stood with them because they knew that this wrong and that Muslims are people of good character and upright morals.

What has been the cost?

People have been offended, who have done NOTHING to bring this attack upon themselves. Community tensions have increased. Those who are intolerant have become braver in shouting out their malicious garbage.

Any benefit?

Absolutely because truth will always overcome lies and falsehood. Thousands and thousands of people expressed their disgust at Terry Jones – who will now be known as the fool of the Christian world (this is if the Christians will allow him to be seen as part of them). Muslims have united and will stand up 4 Islam – we have shown the world that we will not tolerate being pushed around, especially not by some little man with an ego-problem. The Qur’an has been promoted to the entire world and more people are reminded of its presence. The fact that so many are willing to defend the Qur’an is amazing in itself. The world will continue and many more people will turn the pages of the Qur’an, wondering what caused so much fuss! Alhamdulillah (Praise Be to Allah!).

But what now of Pastor Terry Jones?

Should he be excused for his actions and for causing so much uproar? I don’t think so. No one should be allowed to create this much upset and then get away with it. I may sound unforgiving but I do not seem to have come across an apology from Mr. Jones. All he has said is that it is not the time to be burning Qur’ans – which means what? That he is waiting for another opportunity?

The Pastor should not be allowed to preach such hatred again and his position stripped from him – this would surely have happened to anyone else who had been given the profile that Terry Jones has had over the past few weeks. It is not right for someone to come along, stir up trouble and then walk away with a smile on his face. This is nothing but a mischief-maker.

But that’s my view – what do YOU think?

I understand Pastor Jones’s congregation only tops about 30. As long as there are any followers of this mans unconventional religious beliefs, he will remain a pastor. Although I use that term loosely. I think he should find a far away little village where people might appreciate his “rule”.In reality,I do believe he should be at least fined for disturbing the peace or something. He has gotten his moment in the spotlight, let’s hope he just fades away quietly.

Actually, all Terry Jones did was expose Muslims around the world as the animals they are. All he had to do was threaten to burn their gutter book and they acted like the subhumans we all know them to be.

Thanks for making your point rather cunningly and keenly, Mr. Jones.

I’m sure you wouldn’t be saying that if your family or your values were attacked. Muslims are not animals and there were many non-Muslims who were equally campaigning – so what do you have to say about them? If anything, some of the things the non-Muslims were saying were very harsh against Terry Jones. Also, for you to class others as subhumans only exposes that you have major problems. I would send round the men in white coats but it would be a waste of time where you are concerned. You will probably meet Terry in the Hellfire.

    Salam brother,
I voted yes, we should excuse this person for his ‘cancellation/delay’. If there is anything that was burned, it was the spirit of the peace-minded people around the group. Muslim and Non Muslim come together and condemn the act of discrimination and truth prevails in a form of now, that everyone knows brutality and violence is NOT part of Islam. InsyaAllah, there’s nothing to be afraid of. Victorious is promised.
“Hold to forgiveness, command what is right, and turn away from the ignorant.” (Qur’an, 7: 199)
“… They should rather pardon and overlook. Would you not love Allah to forgive you? Allah is Ever-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (Qur’an, 24:22)
“The repayment of a bad action is one equivalent to it. But if someone pardons and puts things right, his reward is with Allah…” (Qur’an, 42:40)
Let us not stoop to his level of ignorance and be reminded we’re people of peace and grace. Justice will be served…
