14th Aug – Pakistan Independence Day. A day of celebration and cheer. A day of unity. A day when the country of Pakistan came into existence but one that doesn’t really achieve the best of what Pakistan should be about.
Pakistan was created out of the troubles in India back in 1947. It was set up for the Muslims under the leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah – the photo of whom is in many Pakistani households. Essentially Pakistan is a Muslim country but it should be much more.
Whilst Pakistanis celebrate their country’s existence, the country itself is steeped in corruption and a massive divide between rich and poor. Since the country’s inception there’s been massive and continuous instability – always at the cost of the ordinary person. Leaders have come, been accused of corruption and then gone, leaving a mess behind. But that’s because the country has been set up for Muslims – a nationalistic goal. It could have been set up for something better.
Pakistan should have been set up for ISLAM! Pakistan should have been set up for Allah! Only through Islam will the country gain stability, economy, rid corruption and restore the imbalance between rich and poor.
And it’s not too late to move to this goal – establishing Islam in a country full of Muslims and as Muslims, we should not be opposed to this. The only ones who will actively oppose this are those who have something to lose (like power, riches, their greed and pride) and those who are opposed to Islam being established.
It’s time that the Muslims of Pakistan moved the country forward. Instead of celebrating nationalism, move towards Islam. This day of nationalism will come and go and leave you still with the problems that have plagued Pakistan. Nationalism was never the answer for the Muslims. But establishing Islam for Pakistan has much greater benefits and is the only solution.
