There are many quizzes around at the moment and I’ve decided to start one as well. I have several reasons for doing this.
I was first introduced to the Quiz on Twitter by a dear Muslim – @AlwaysRamadan. I found it educational, fun and it really hooked me! I was amazed at how competitive I became in trying to be the fastest to answer the questions. The best thing was how much I started paying more attention to the Qur’an and learning more, each time I was trying to prepare for the next quiz. In the end, I read more Qur’an than I had done in a while and I thank Allah for that blessing. So the best and most important benefit from this was my learning and reading of the Qur’an.
After that, it was a matter of being connected to other Muslims who also got a buzz out of the Qur’an, in similar ways to myself. We were all loving getting into the quiz and the topics on Islam always caught our attention and spurned on other Islamic discussions too.
So insha’Allah I will try to have an Islamic Quiz, based on the Qur’an several times a week on twitter. And everyone is invited to take part. Just follow my twitter account for when the next quiz will take part – @DawudAdam.
I have also added the questions and answers to the quizzes held so far.
Learn Islam! In doing so, you will… Stand Up 4 Islam!
Insha’Allah I will try to hold at least two or three quizzes a week. Friday is one of the days that I will try to keep as a regular day for the quiz. Insha’Allah, the timings will vary to fit around my own schedules and to fit around other Muslims from around the world. But post here the best times for you and I will try to accommodate (give me a time and the time zone you are in, and your location). For your information, I am in the UK.
HOW THE QUIZ WORKS
Simply follow my twitter account, so that you get the questions – @DawudAdam.
Insha’Allah, I will set a date and time for when the quiz will start. Once everyone is ready, I’ll post the first of 10 questions.
There are two categories of scoring – Fastest Answers and Most Correct Answers. On the FASTEST Category, the first person to answer correctly will get one point. On the Most Correct Answers, everyone who answers correctly will get one point. Those who don’t answer the question fully but have part of the answer, will get half a point. After all 10 questions, the person with the most points wins the Quiz and the person with the most fastest points will win the fastest answers category.
Each quiz will continue from the point in the Qur’an where the last quiz finished.
The rules are quite relaxed but here are a few:
- Answer the question, rather than simply copying and pasting a Qur’anic ayat (unless, of course, you have been specifically asked to quote an ayat)
- Half points will be given where an answer is on the right lines but doesn not fully answer the question
- Please try to quote in English – this benefits others who are reading your tweet and also helps me to check your answer, as the questions are in English too
- On tie breakers, only your first answer will be accepted – if you change your mind, it will not be accepted
- On tie breakers for the ‘fastest correct answers’ category, the fastest person to correctly answer, will win the tie break
